Adding fuel to fire
'Let them eat cake'
The famous/infamous quote in history by Marie Antoinette( ‌bride of France's king Louis 16) at some point near 1789, when she was told that her French subjects had no bread to eat, supposedly sniffed.
We all are also aware that this ignorance or arrogance of then rulers of France also gave fillip to the cause of French revolution. And most commonly we must also be aware as to what fate queen Marie Antoinette met thenafter.
And the history appears to be repeating itself here in our country as the ignorance & arrogance of the ruling clan reaching a new height.
Addressing a press conference a senior union cabinet minister denied any impact of slowdown in economy as people are watching movies in the weekend and the multiplexes are doing good business. He specifically cited in support of sound Indian economy, the weekend business turnover of 3 newly released movies of almost 120 cr. This trend,in his analysis of sound Indian economy,is reflective of buoyant & vibrant economy.People are feeling happy & watching movies. In a country with almost 1300 million of population and an estimated projection of 5 trillion economy,What a queer way of measuring the health of economy?Must amend the existing principles/definitions of economics? This is to cite one instance.there are number of such erratic & heart burning statements pouring in, irrationally defending prevailing financial gloom.
Hardly any difference in attitude and sensitivity between the queen... of France 250 years ago and the present ruling clan of the largest democracy of 21st century comparing health of the economy with that of watching movies in weekend. This I wish go down the history Lane and becomes as immortal as 'let them eat cake''
The entire nation is undergoing an unusual and unprecedented slowdown in economy with alarmingly high rate of rise in unemployment & big slump in industrial production. It is rampant financial gloom all-around.It is an unhidden fact
now that indian economy is not vibrant by any standard.Much talked about and debated 5 trillion economy is myth and purely hypothetical. The available stastical data does belie the claim of the rate of the GDP growth. They must realise and accept the ground realities and erratic/irrational statements by the ruling dignitaries defending economy must stop.
It is very painful, hurts deeply & adds fuel to fire.....
